What do you do when you see someone being bullied? Don’t just be a “Bystander”…
have the courage to be an “Upstander” who takes A.C.T.I.O.N.!
A ~ Assert Yourself
Speak up! Interrupt! Say, “I’m not okay with what you just did.”
C ~ Create a Distraction
Talk to the bully about something else.
Take the attention off of the situation.
T ~ Turn to Others
There is strength in numbers! Get help. Confront the bully with a group.
I ~ Include
Take the person who is being bullied away from the situation. Include them in other activities.
O ~ Offer Support
Tell the person who is being bullied that you are sorry it happened.
Ask if there is anything you can do for them. Be their friend!
N ~ Notify an Adult
Tell an adult what happened or what is going to happen. Sometimes there is only so much you can do. Follow through! Keep trying until an adult does something to help.
“In the end we will not remember the words of our enemies but rather the silence of our friends.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King Junior
