The Groupon Grassroots campaign to raise funds for Smart-Girl Leadership Summer Camp scholarships begins today, 4/25/13 and you can join in by going to Groupon’s site here! Groupon subscribers can pledge support for the Smart-Girl Leadership Summer Camp initiative in increments of $10, with each $280, providing one full scholarship to a young girl who would otherwise not be able to attend camp. Donate today and help us reach out to Groupon subscribers not familiar with Smart-Girl. Together, we can make a big difference in a young girl’s life. Here’s what you can do to help out: 1. Go to the campaign page to donate. 2. Share campaign news and progress on Facebook and Twitter and send an email to friends encouraging them to give $10. The more we spread the word, the more successful this campaign will be! Thank you for our support!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (March, 2013) – The Just Be Nice® Foundation proudly announces that it is partnering with Smart-Girl, a Colorado nonprofit organization. Smart-Girl helps empower adolescents – through summer camps and enrichment programs – to make smart choices and become confident, self-reliant young women. The Just Be Nice Foundation will be working with Smart-Girl on their ongoing fundraising efforts and on promoting awareness for their crucial mission. This mission includes: increasing girls’ self-awareness and values, developing leadership and social skills, reducing vulnerability to self-destructive behaviors, and learning critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Alex Valderrama of Just Be Nice states, “together with Smart-Girl, this partnership will help raise much needed contributions that are heavily relied upon”. Their vision is to inspire teens to appropriately problem solve, to develop positive relationships throughout their lives, and really impact others while doing so. Through this intuitive partnership, Just Be Nice will donate 25% of sales purchased by Smart-Girl customers to their Smart-Girl cause. If you are interested in this great endeavor, or want to learn more, check out the website by visiting http://justbenice.com/smart-girl/. Just Be Nice and Smart-Girl will continue working across the nation, in tandem, while promoting awareness for this new partnership. Getting involved proves that one person – or a group of people – can make a real difference every day. ABOUT US: Just Be Nice® is an international movement with a simple message, just be nice. These three simple, yet powerful words transcend through our culture as a positive lifelong message of kindness. We spread this meaningful message with help from people like you, through our retail website justbenice.com, grassroots efforts, our School Program and our Just Be Nice Foundation which is our non-profit fundraising program.
Raising Resilient Kidsand Fostering Ego StrengthPresented by Dr. Julaine Field This presentation will examine family, school and community practices which foster ego strength in middle school students. More than self-esteem, ego strength implies that young people are constructing or have constructed a sense of emotional stability which assists them in managing internal and external stress. Once developed, ego strength provides a buffering effect for adolescent issues such as bullying, body image dissatisfaction, peer pressure, family distress, etc. Ego strength is also associated with psychological resilience in adulthood. Practical tips for building ego strength will be provided and “red flag” behaviors, which signify that students need assistance outside of their traditional support system, will be discussed. Please join event Chair Allison Dodge at Smart-Girl’s Annual Luncheon Thursday, April 18th, Temple Emanuel, 11 AM – 1 PM*presentation will start promptly at 11:30AM To purchase your tickets online, please go to http://www.blacktie-colorado.com/rsvp and enter event code: SG2013 Generously Sponsored by:
