Smart-Girl has over 40 2 hour sessions for preteens and 15 2 hour sessions for teens between 14 and 18. Many of the smart-Girl sessions focus on developing emotional intelligence (Goleman, 1999). Session topics include: motivating ourselves, persisting against frustration, bullying and the bystander, delaying gratification, goal setting, being empathic and controlling our impulses. The exercises and games the girls play teach critical thinking and problem solving. While the session plans incorporate different topics in different ways, a few are given below.
