About Us
Founded in 1999 by four dynamic women, Smart-Girl is a nonprofit organization specializing in empowering adolescents. With over a decade of experience, Smart-Girl has trained more than 700 peer mentors and Guides, and has worked with over 3,900 girls. Our Smart Girl Leadership Institute (SGLI), along with a successful research-based and tested program, emphasizes social and emotional intelligence using a near-peer model. As a result, adolescents become confident, capable and self-reliant and are able to make smart choices throughout life.
