There are many organizations in our community working to prevent teen pregnancy and educate youth about the consequences of unprotected and early sexual activity. A great resource for current efforts and policy initiatives is the Healthy Colorado Youth Alliance. In addition Colorado Youth Matter has a myriad of resources and information for parents, providers and teens.
In additon, there are two interesting reports just released of interest on this topic:
Dr. Doug Kirby, author of Emerging Answers: Research Findings to Reduce Teen Pregnancy and dubbed by some the ‘grandfather of sex education,’ just published this free resource: Reducing Adolescent Sexual Risk.
The National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior – the largest nationally representative study of sexual and sexual-health behaviors ever fielded, conducted by Indiana University sexual health researchers – provides an updated snapshot of contemporary Americans’ sexual behaviors. Publications are free online through the end of the year.
